The situation

Client is in bidding phase for the expansion of a large Polypropylene (PP) plant in a specific geography of the ASEAN region. The Client was looking to deepen its knowledge of the local vendor base in order to comply with the End User’s Local Content requirements and increase its chances of winning the bid. The geography was relatively new for the Client as it had only carried out a few projects there in the past and quick results were required, as the project’s bidding phase was progressing and the deadline for handing in the documentation was approaching. Furthermore, based on the type of Petrochemical plant, very specific categories of supply were required.

SupplHi’s approach

Over time and through various Proofs-of-Concept (POC) SupplHi developed its own specific methodology to tackle new geographies for Vendor Scouting purposes. Such methodology is based on the information already available on SupplHi’s platform, pooled with different sources (product certifications such as ASME and API databases, project Vendor List, open searches from industry events, …) to create a Long List of local Vendors. Vendors are then prioritized based on their categories of supply and market presence for invites to the free-of-charge Vendor Registration on SupplHi. As a final step, Assessment Visits at Vendor’s facilities are performed in collaboration with local resources of independent 3rd parties.

The results

About 500 new Vendors have been mapped in their respective categories of supply and narrowed the list down to a short list of ~200 vendors of higher interest for Maire Tecnimont. Through targeted email campaigns and follow up calls, SupplHi reached the number of 320 Registered Vendors in specific geographies of the specific geography of the ASEAN region.
